Best 4K TV
« on: November 23, 2014, 04:22 pm »
With Black Friday coming up and some 4K content now becoming available on Netflix, I am thinking of buying a 4K TV but not sure which brand to go with.  Currently have a Samsung 46 inch 3D TV which works fine but would like to get something larger.

Hopefully 4K becomes more mainstream over the next few years unlike 3D which never really took off!  Also, is the 4K specification finalized already or is it better to wait a bit longer?

Since you already have a Samsung, you may want to check out their new 55 inch 4K TV.  Here's a link below.

It's currently less than $1000.00 US dollars.  The specs look really good too.  I'm thinking about getting one myself. Like yourself, I too bought a 3D TV, and never really used the 3D aspect. Now I'm looking to upgrade. Good luck with your search.

Yes, I am quite satisfied with my current Samsung TV and it has worked fine over the past few years.  The only issues I had a few months after purchasing it were:

- HDMI inputs suddenly stopped working with one of them still working but with a flashing green flicker.  This was fixed under warranty with the technician they sent out by replacing the whole tuner board.

- Flashing image issue which started happening a year I purchased it.  By doing research online, I learned this was a common defect for this model.  Fortunately, there is a quick 15 minute fix which involves opening up the back cover and cutting a small jumper.  I did this on mine and it has been working flawlessly ever since.

Promising higher resolution than Full HD, 4K (or Ultra HD) can deliver sharper, more detailed images making it perfect for sport, getting up closer for wildlife documentaries and of course watching movies.

First I'd like to correct what you just said. 3d took off surpassing the estimated numbers. 60% of home have a 3d tv and that is a lot. That's why you see 3d tv's in stores a lot more than last year or the year before that. Now 4k technology isn't that interesting so if the goal is to get a larger tv then get a bigger ultra 3d tv instead of buying a 4k tv. The best reason is because 4k tv's are still to expensive and the programming that fully exploits this technology is limited.

4k looks unbelievable from a first hand experience. It's seems to be twice as clear as regular hd. I'm definitely going to purchase one of these televisions soon. The networks need to start broadcasting more though.

This is new information to me. I had no idea that Netflix actually was incorporating 4K can't. Now that they're doing this the 4K television has become a little bit more desirable to me. Before hand I wasn't even going to consider it as an option but now I think that actually might be a good ad on to my system. Surroundsound with 4K really sounds wonderful.

When the price comes down and the content increases 4k might be more popular. I can't fathom buying just yet, but I have limited income.

Try out Vizio m series 4k ultra HD smart LED HD TV. 80 inch is my choice. It has over 8.3 million pixels in every image. With ultra HD displays, full array LED back lights makes it the best.

I don't think the quality differences justify the price increase for a 4K television. I wont even consider buying one unless there is a substantial price drop. I know people that rushed out to get HD television's before the price came down. They spent upwards of a grand for something less functional than the lower priced models that came later.

Well if budget permits, the LG 4K OLED televisions are phenomenal. They promise perfect blacks and if you look at their demos at a Best Buy, the price tag will make sense. Nothing can come close to that contrast ratio. That being said, I think both the Sony and Samsung with their respective color technologies such as Triluminous Display and Nano-Crystals both give them a wicked edge in the 4K table. On the more budget minded side of things, the Vizio M series is performing fantastic with very good reviews. Overall, 2015 has been a great year for 4K and I'm excited to see how the new 2016 flagships perform.

I still can't see paying the premium prices for 4K. It is just ridiculous.

I have both a Sony and Toshiba HD televisions. I do have to say I prefer the Toshiba over the Sony. To me the toshiba has such a better pictiure and sound. With the Sony I have to turn the volume way up to even hear whats going on.
