DIY Home Improvements for Under $50

You can improve your home for as little as $50 per project!

Here are some examples, feel free to post your own as well:

Hanging Floating Shelves: Give your office or bedroom more space and style! Quite easy to install, you can purchase shelving kits with all you need and instructions.

Mount your TV to your Wall: TVs can take up alot of space on desks and cabinets, look at mounting it to the wall.  A great dynamic decoration too!

Organise your cupboards and drawers: Add extra shelving, look at cupboard organisers, or just throw out your old stuff. You can also label cupboards so you know where everything goes.

Doorknobs and Locks: Upgrade these to a stylish matching style. Even just going around and tightening them can make your life that little easier.

Paint Interior Doors: Repainting those interior doors can be a unique way to add color to your home. Don't be afraid to use vibrant, bold colors.

Modernize your house number and letterbox: Give people the right first impression! For just a few dollars you can add bold numbers to your fence, house or letter that will show professionalism and style. Give you hard working letterbox a bit of a makeover, it could become a feature when people are trying to find your house!

Putting together the proper shelving units actually really increases the overall look of a home. I really enjoy picking out certain things when it comes to home improvement. But upgrading my situation for under $50 has definitely been a eye-opening experience. There are so many different things that you can get. You just have to understand what the deals are.

I really like the idea of the shelves and the paint. A vibrant paint can really make a dull place pop and give it something special.

I myself love the minimalistic designs of today but being creative under a budget is also a swell way to make your apartment look aesthetically good. One way you can design under a budget is to repurpose spare parts, dilapidated wood and frames to make certain kinds of furniture. You'll need some paint, glue guns, bolts or any kind of strong adhesive and a creative mind. Great advice here by the way I like the idea of putting your TV against the wall because it adds space to the room.

I am disabled and am on a fixed income. So when I decided I needed new furniture for my bedroom it was clear that I could not afford new. So I took it upon myself to make mine look better. I just used sand paper, paint, spray on adhesive, glitter,,tash bags, and paper plates.
 1. Sand down the piece of furniture your are wanting to remodel
 2. paint the furniture and let dry completely
 3. put trash bags under the furniture
 4.spray completely with the adhesive
5.pour glitter onto a paper plate.
6.gently blow the glitter on tho the furniture

Anybody have good advice on cheaper ways to soundproof a room? I know stuff like that isn't cheap but there must be something that can be done to stop high end speaker systems from carrying all over the house and to the neighbor's home. On a similar note, I'm also interested in acoustic paneling if anyone has experience with getting the best sound out of a room.

Not really, but I think doing a web search on the terms will give you an idea of how to go about it. I would think that is a common enough topic that many people would be interested in and have suggestions for you. Good Luck with it!

I was able to mount my own TV to the wall and I walked around the house like I was king of the world for about three days after that.  It is still holding strong too, so from what I gather I saved a good fifty bucks or so.  I am always looking for things to do myself around the house, and the truth is is that with a little research and some know how you can really save a lot of money by doing things yourself.  Plus you learn a lot while in the process, so that is certainly a win win.

I am planning on remodeling one of my bedrooms in the spring. Hoping I can do this at an inexpensive cost because I too live on a fixed income. Where are some of the best places to find good quality paint and carpeting at affordable prices?
