Were very pleased to get this contract with E-Scripps, There are quite a few diginets these days that are working to get picked up by cable to further their distribution. Once on cable the rules are to encypt the distribution feed. Rainier is happy were able to provide these not only today but in the future too. We have the same rights as cable or small dish would have for distribution.
A word about FTA channels and promotion.
Some FTA receiver dealers will argue just because they can get a channel ITC here or there its their channel and they have the right to use it to promote sales. When a FTA dealer promotes a FTA channel without expressed written consent or contract agreement with the provider they're in violation of copyright at the least. This has not gone unnoticed by the providers. There's a couple FTA dealers that have already been contacted by the provider attorneys and facing legal action for violation of laws. Member of FTA forums that post feeds they find are in violation of this also. Just because you find an unencrypted signal it does not give one the right to use it without getting permission from the provider. C band for years tapped into broadcast feeds which years ago was allowed, but because of new laws these actions are in violation. Big mouths on FTA forums bragging about finds are ruining it for themselves and their suppliers if they know it or not.
If FTA dealers want to advertise channels they need to get agreements just like Rainier does. This allows them to work within the law. There is no fear legal action or shutdown when done legally. Rainier operates within the law, just as all legal businesses should. Of course there are so called dealers out there that think they can get away with anything until they're cracked.
