Comcast DCII is going away, eventually, but it has been extended to Aug 26th for consumer HITS thru Programming Center.
This is only a reprieve for the cable co. headends until they can complete their upgrades to new equipment.
Not a reprieve for the consumers who will be left to  their own choices, one of which is Rainier.

Please remain on topic, consumer HITS Shutdown notice. DC2 from HITS for home use is over. There are no DC-2 platforms coming out from Arris or SRL. Rainier Satellite has everything figured into the equation as far as channels go (PowerVu, DC-2 etc). More information will be released as we progress.

Hi everyone. I got some news. And maybe are new programmers will answer this. I found an article from the FCC. Where they ruled that companys like Comcast and other providers are going to have to let us use 3rd party boxes. All because Comcast let a 3rd Pratt do so. And the FCC said if the3rd party can use there box then that proves it can be done. So now that the cat is out of the bag.  We will not have to buy the sisco box. That are over priced buy about 300 percent. Just like the FCC said. I will get the link to the pages tomorrow. But maybe rainier could shed some like on this. And this is something that just happen.

In February, the FCC took a preliminary vote on rules requiring pay-TV companies to make their content and programming information available to makers of third-party hardware or applications. Cable companies blasted the FCC proposal, but last week Comcast launched a program to make its TV service available on other set-top boxes.

Gee, Z_finigan, you post just like the South American member of a certain PVu piracy forum. A forum that was 'dissolved'.

Or is that a ruse to throw us off the scent of a certain 1:30 AM-ish multi-moniker poster from another Canadian forum? A certain forum from which your original moniker, unclebob, was "retired."  http://www.azboxamericas.com/unauthoris ... .cfm?id=48

Comcast HITS for the consumer is going away & there is nothing that will bring it back. Accept it & move on......

Rainier Satellite has a contract with Cisco to use their equipment. The programmers allow only certain IRD's by the encoder manufacturer to be used with their signals. This is the way it works. To watch our signals you need to use what we have contracts for. Any 3rd party equipment would need to be licensed by the encryption manufactures and approved by the programmers to be used in any capacity. Due to piracy issues and threats, I don't see the encryption technology being licensed to someone else. Even if another box was made and encryption technology licensed, the programmers would have to allow it to be used on their signals. Good Luck with that.

You bring up some excellent points, thanks for pointing that out. There is a consorted effort by some that is allowed at forums such as Satellite Guys, Fridge FTA, TVROSAT  and Ricks Satellite to defame Rainier, its service and owners. These defamation of character activities are illegal and civil litigation is being pursued.

Just for the record we will not allow this activity by those to take place here. Any of those activities or actions will be removed. This forum is about the good things Rainier has accomplished and to promote our products and services. Lets keep it good and upbeat all.

Hi again
1st off I'm from Florida. Second. I pay for my tv. I had pay some times for 2boxes at a time. Using my 2 4dtv and fta boxes.  I do hope rainier launches. I'm sick of waiting and getting my hopes up.
I will say. If you want to save cband then why has no one came up with the idea to rent the boxes.  When do you think dtv and dish took off in the late 90s . They made it possible for people of lower class to afford it.  The funny thing is. I got my dish for free. 10ft channel master. 600lbs unit. 30+ years old. Using 50 dollar lnb.

Renting boxes would require 2 year contracts with ETF's and $100.00 a month packages. Even though it may seem like a better deal up front with the small dish you end up paying more then with c band before your contract term is through. Do the math.

Many that sign up with Dish that can't afford it end up trying to stiff them out of payment. Then Dish needs to go after them with collections and that damages the persons credit rating. Rainier does not want those headaches.

C band was always you owned your equipment and had low subscription costs without contracts. We want to stick with the model that worked so well for many years. It keeps one honest and weeds out the undesirables that are looking for a next to nothing or free lunch.

I understand all about people can not afford things.  But if the product was made cheaper. More affordable it would take off. And it would kill dish.  I have a cheap x2 box mini. And using it with an ultra HD tv. And the picture is unbelievable in how good it looks. You can tell who spends money on feeds and who does not.  I get over 100 tv channels.
but one thing that gets me is I can get a sisco box from Comcast. For 150.  And its funny how those boxes are DVR. And when you look at them they are made cheap. Not half the box the Motorola
. And for the price. Are they or is the platform going to make 19 years.   another thing. Where's the beef.  I would love to see the list of programming.  I have said it before. I can't sell 10 channels. And the other free ones would only warrant a 2 to 3 hundred dollar dish. Same as a good rooftop antenna. Cause most of all the tv out there is ota.  See 4dtv. Was a good buy. I'm using mine till the end. But the funny thing is. For what we got. It was a better deal then anyone out their. 42.99 was much better then the 80+ for pizza dish. Or cable.
I have been waiting 2 years for something to happen. I'm starting to lose my faith.  Please tell us something. Proof would be nice

I don't think you understand what a D9865 Cisco receiver is. It is a D9858 commercial headend receiver/ decoder which retails for $5,995.00 in a set top box style for only $749.99. It is not a $30 fly by night piece of junk made in some 3rd world boiler room. Since it is a commercial receiver/ decoder its cost is justified due to its quality and robustness. If you can't afford the price of the HD model we offer an SD model for $200 less. The SD models picture is way better then what's been seen on HITS for years on the 4DTV.

It costs money to run a operation large enough that a cable or small dish company does. This is why you pay what you do. Unfortunately Rainier has costs too, they have to get product at the cost those providing it sells it for so they can bring you the end result, PURE HD Subscription TV using quality equipment. Bottom line is it can't be done properly on the cheap. 4DTV has been run for years using old used equipment that was long past its useful life (hence it's lower cost). With Rainier your starting all new just like when 4DTV originally began. One the initial equipment investment is over you save on programming like historically with c band.

Rainier Satellite has 19 contracts with 19 different programmers that will yield us up to 100 channels in the near future. All our contracts are for 5 years, so we aren't going away anytime soon. Due to NDA agreements information is not permitted in print till we launch them. Rollout of our new packages will begin very soon so stay tuned.  For more details on the channels you must call Rainier and speak with a CSR there, they can tell you more.

If you want to sell Rainier and install systems you need to fill out our dealers application. Please supply the proper information and documentation needed about your business on the application to be approved. You can download the application at our website, www.rainiersatellite.com
