[SatNews] To be recognized as 'the best' by your industries' peers is quite a compliment, and so it was for...

Es’hailSat, the Qatar Satellite Company, has been awarded the prize for “Satellite Operator of the Year” at the 2014 Arab Satellite Broadcasting Union and BroadcastPro Middle East Awards event in Dubai. The ceremony took place during the BroadcastPro Middle East’s Annual Summit to promote and celebrate excellence in the broadcast industry across the MENA region.

BroadcastPro Middle East’s Awards are at the heart of the industry calendar, shining a light on the region’s most acclaimed products and the talent that made it all possible.  A judging panel comprising industry experts joined together to review the top entries across key categories.

Saif Mansour Al Khaldi, Satellite Projects Director for Es’hailSat attended the event in Dubai and accepted the award on behalf of Es’hailSat.

Ali Al Kuwari Chief Executive Officer of Es’hailSat said, “We are very proud to receive this award from our colleagues in the MENA broadcast industry.  With both Ku-band and Ka-band capacity at the 25.5 and 26 degrees East hotspot positions, we can provide the region with the most advanced and sophisticated satellite services including broadcast, telecommunications and broadband. Es’hail 1 is currently transmitting premium news and sports programming for key broadcasters such as AL Jazeera and beIN Sports and we will continue to expand our offering with Es’hail 2 and our own satellite control centre in Doha. This is a strong foundation on which we can continue to build a world-class satellite operator and center of excellence in the MENA region”.

Es’hailSat was established in 2010 and brings a new dimension to Qatar’s diversifying economy. The company’s satellite fleet will enable customers to substantially increase their broadcasting capability in HD and Ultra HD and supports Qatar’s 2030 vision and commitment to meeting the sophisticated communications infrastructure the country is putting in place to host FIFA’s World Cup in 2022.
