[SatNews] Newtec and Intelsat S.A. (NYSE: I) have announced that Newtec Dialog® is powering the new IntelsatOne® Prism multimedia services.
Intelsat’s new multimedia networking platform, which will be showcased in 4K UHDTV contribution demonstration at the NABSHOW in Las Vegas next week, allows Intelsat customers to easily upgrade a legacy satellite-based network to a next-generation automated hybrid satellite and terrestrial converged IP network. At NAB, Intelsat and Newtec will focus on demonstrating the capabilities of distribution and contribution of 4K content, both live and file-based workflows.
By embedding the Newtec Dialog platform at the core of IntelsatOne Prism, the new services also combine both the open DVB-S2X transmission standard and the award-winning Mx-DMA™ technology. This allows operators or providers to increase bandwidth efficiency, optimally share bandwidth between different applications and seamlessly distribute bandwidth over all terminals in a network. Intelsat will demonstrate the capabilities of the IntelsatOne Prism platform from booth SU3110 at the NAB show, held at the Las Vegas Convention Centre from April 11 – 16. As well as the 4K transmission, which uses Newtec’s modems in its delivery, Intelsat will demonstrate how media customers can manage multiple types of video content delivery and other IP applications using one single platform, with the Newtec Dialog hub located at Intelsat’s teleport in Atlanta, Georgia. Newtec will be presenting their technologies at their booth: SU2424.
Serge Van Herck, CEO of Newtec, said, “In choosing Newtec Dialog to power their IntelsatOne Prism service, Intelsat has recognized the increasing pressure on media companies to meet the demands of a TV Everywhere society as well as challenges posed by the growing complexity of workflow management. On top of efficiency, scalability and flexibility; automation of broadcast workflows and effective usage of available resources are key differentiators of the Newtec Dialog multiservice broadcast solution. The availability of a wide range of diverse workflows and the flexibility to define new ones, simplifies operations while also reducing overall network costs. At the same time it allows broadcasters to rapidly enable new services as the market evolves.”
Peter Ostapiuk, Head of Media, Intelsat, said, “Changing consumer behavior from live linear to multi-screen and time-delayed consumption is introducing new business models to broadcasters and programmers, adding additional complexity to their distribution architecture. IntelsatOne Prism solutions combined with the innovative Newtec Dialog multiservice solution will enable our customers to share bandwidth and network assets across multiple applications and simplify legacy and digital media delivery all within one network and in a much more cost-efficient manner.”
