[SatNews] On Tuesday aerospace defence troops and operational crews successfully launched Russian medium booster Soyuz-2.1b to orbit the Ministry of Defense's satellite, the Ministry of Defense representative of aero defense troops, Colonel Dmitry Zenin reported.

The booster was launched from Plesetsk spaceport on 19.44, Moscow time, The launch took place without incident.

The space device separated from the booster as planned, as the Aerospace Defense took control over it.

It was the third Soyuz-2 booster series launched by Aero Defense troops from Plesetsk in 2015. The previous launch took place on June 5, 2015 (Soyuz-2,1a), and was also a success. 

The Soyuz 2 Rocket is a three stage carrier rocket designed to put payloads into Low Earth Orbit (LEO).

It has been derived from several previous versions of the Soyuz by incorporating all of the positive mechanics to become a medium lift launcher. The Soyuz 2 will replace other launchers in the Soyuz fleet such as the Soyuz-U amd Soyuz FG Vehicles. It can be outfitted with a Fregat upper stage which conatins an independent navigation and control system to reach a variety of orbits and espace trajectories broadening the spectrum of launch capabilities.
