[SatNews] Spacecom (Tel Aviv Stock Exchange: SCC), the operator of the AMOS satellite fleet, is focusing more capacity to Nepal on the AMOS-4 satellite located at the 65 degrees East prime orbital position.

In the aftermath of Saturday's enormously deadly earthquake, many service providers have been disabled. Spacecom is offering capacity Free of Charge to emergency responders in Nepal, and throughout the affected region. Additionally, the satellite operator is adding capacity on AMOS-4 for SNG operators in the region to enable them to quickly resume their businesses.

According to Eyal Copitt, Spacecom Sr. vice president Sales, Asia, Africa and Marketing, "AMOS-4 at 65 degrees East is in an excellent position to provide emergency services and capacity for occasional use needs in Nepal and the region. AMOS-4, the newest addition to Spacecom's AMOS constellation has eight Ku-band transponders of 108 MHz and four high-power Ka-band transponders of 216MHz, each with steerable beams. The Ku and Ka transponders create a powerful platform, enabling a wide rangeof cross-region, cross-band and cross-beam connectivity options to reach the region's vast urban and rural areas. Offering extensive broadcast and broadband reach for satellite services including DTH, DBS, video distribution, VSAT communications and broadband Internet, the satellite's geographic position meets broadcast and broadband needs within the Asian, African and Middle Eastern markets.
