NEW YORK -- Nick Foligno of the Columbus Blue Jackets and Jonathan Toews of the Chicago Blackhawks have been named team Captains for the 2015 NHL All-Star Weekend in Columbus, the National Hockey League (NHL®) announced today. The NHL All-Star teams are now designated as Team Foligno and Team Toews. In addition, Drew Doughty of the Los Angeles Kings and Patrick Kane of the Blackhawks have been named Assistant Captains of Team Foligno, while Ryan Getzlaf of the Anaheim Ducks and Rick Nash of the New York Rangers have been named Assistant Captains of Team Toews.NASHVILLE -- Nashville Predators goaltender Pekka Rinne left with 17:05 remaining in the third period of a 5-1 win against the Vancouver Canucks at Bridgestone Arena on Tuesday.

The Predators announced after the game the Rinne is day-to-day with a lower-body injury and there will be an update at practice Thursday. The Predators are off Wednesday.

Rinne left the game after Nashville defenseman Anton Volchenkov and Vancouver forward Chris Higgins collided into the net. Rinne was knocked backward into the boards along with the net. He stretched on the ice after the play and then went to the locker room and did not return.

For a long time I hated the crease violations that if a players skate was in the crease the goal was disallowed, but now its come to the point that there are far too many net collisions and goalies getting injured. I think we need to be stricter in protecting the goalie while he is in the crease. I also think that if a goalie leaves the crease that they should be fair game to be checked while playing the puck behind the net or in front of the corners. Is this a contradiction? I don't think so, a standard check is nowhere near as bad as what is occurring in front of the nets and I think it will influence the goalies to stay in their crease more often, something the league has been trying to do for years since the introduction of the corner delay of game penalties.
