BUFFALO -- The Detroit Red Wings will be without starting goalie Jimmy Howard for 2-4 weeks because of a slight groin tear and he will not play in the 2015 Honda NHL All-Star Game, according to the Associated Press.
Red Wings coach Mike Babcock on Tuesday said Howard was week-to-week with his injury, according to the AP.

http://www.nhl.com/ice/blogpost.htm?id=35865 Wow, a bit longer than I expected. I knew he was going to be out for at least a week but I figured he just jammed the area. Now that we know he in fact tore the groin muscle I have to wonder if the pipe actually helped him from tearing it further. The posts are deigned to come away should a player collide with them, it did, but it took quite a bit of force before that which may have prevented Howard from flexing the muscle and tearing it further. Lets all hope he can make a speedy recovery as he is one of the better goaltenders in the NHL and it would be a shame to lose him for an extended period.
